Breaking all the rules; Palestine, Iraq, Iran, and the case for impeachment.
This book contains the transcripts of the two lectures (along with the question and answer sessions) delivered by Boyle (international law, U. of Illinois) as part of the 18th Annual Bertrand Russell Peace Lectures at Canada's McMaster U. in January of 2007. The first lecture concerns Israel/Palestine and international law, a topic to which Boyle brings both his academic expertise and his experience as a former legal adviser to the Palestinian delegation to the Middle East peace negotiations from 1991 to 1993. The second lecture lays out the case and reviews the prospects for impeaching President George W. Bush for having lied the nation into war and other crimes against the Constitution. The volume also includes an addendum in which Boyle reviews issues of international law and Middle East politics as of around October of 2007. Appendixes include materials related to boycott, disinvestments, and sanctions campaigns against Israel on behalf of Palestinian human rights. (Annotation ©2008 Book News Inc. Portland, OR)
