Teaching with technology; an academic librarian's guide.
Williams (learning commons, North Carolina State U. Libraries) and Goodwin (instructional services, Texas A&M U. Libraries) provide a guide to using technology in teaching, for academic librarians. Seven chapters (by librarians, professors of education and instructional services and technology, information studies, and library sciences from the US) explain how to incorporate specific technologies into instruction: screencasting, podcasting, blogs, wikis, RSS feeds, virtual reference and instructional tools, virtual learning environments, mobile computing, management systems such as Blackboard, and videoconferencing. Each gives basic background, technical information, examples of potential applications, and the future directions of the technology. (Annotation ©2008 Book News Inc. Portland, OR)
