Just beyond Harmony.
Wyoming-based Collier has co-authored three books on horses and horsemanship for Doubleday, and co-edited three collections on women's writing for Houghton-Mifflin; her essays, articles, and poetry have appeared in a variety of publications and anthologies. Her memoir focuses on the 1960s, when she, her husband, and their four young children moved to an old log cabin near Harmony, Wyoming, to experience the homestead way of life. Originally begun 30-plus years ago, the book became sidetracked by family and work obligations; recently re-discovered diaries and letters provided Collier with the forgotten details and dialogue to spur completion of this fascinating, humorous, thought-provoking account of living a very alternative lifestyle.
