Statistical methods for validation of assessment scale data in counseling and related fields.
Dimitrov (educational management and statistics, George Mason U.) explains statistical methods and procedures for the validation of assessment scale data from tests, inventories, questionnaires, and others used by graduate students, researchers, and practitioners in counseling (also applicable to psychology, education, and related fields). He explains measurement scales, reliability, and the unified construct-based model of validity, as well as key steps in the development of assessment instruments, followed by factor analyses in construct validation, including exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis and models of multitrait-multimethod data analysis. Lastly, he examines classical scale analysis and Rasch-based analyses of binary and rating scales. (Annotation ©2011 Book News Inc. Portland, OR)
