Two days later his father began keeping a personal journal that progresses from his lengthy coma through his gradual recovery. Most of the entries are addressed as letters to Adam, interspersed by comments to family and friends, and a few entries that appeared on the CaringBridge website. Ten pages of black and white photographs appear in the middle of the book. (Annotation ©2011 Book News Inc. Portland, OR)

Author Isabel Ziegler, and her husband, and their two young sons moved to Española, New Mexico in 1946 when her husband was invited to help build a local hospital. Her husband also served on the Española City Council in addition to his medical practice. Here, she offers stories of influential people of the region, as well as ordinary people such as a San Juan Indian man who worked for the Zieglers for many years. The book also includes Ziegler's memories of artist Georgia O'Keefe, who was a patient of Dr. Zielger for 30 years and a friend of the family. There is no subject index.
