Pikes Peak Library District
The pioneer photographer; Rocky Mountain adventures with a camera. (reprint, 1929).
William Henry Jackson carried 120 pounds of equipment, chemicals, and glass plates into the wilderness with pack mules to photograph the Rocky Mountain West in the 1860s and 1870s. His book describes the rugged landscapes he traversed to get his images, details the technical challenges of photography during the era, and describes daily challenges related to weather, travel, and other obstacles. The reprinting of the book coincides with the 2011 Pikes Peak Library District's 2011 symposium, "Film and Photography on the Front Range." The book is a facsimile reprinting of the first edition published in 1929, reproduced from scanned images of the original edition and enlarged by 10% to match the format of the series' other books.
